Nebraska Medicine plans ED expansion

Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine is embarking on a major expansion to its emergency department, which will include the addition of more patient rooms and upgrades to critical care, according to KMTV.

The larger ED will accommodate 10,000 more patients each year. Currently, the ED's annual capacity is 60,000.

Nebraska Medicine will bring on two more physicians and several nursing staff to man the ED.

The expansion is projected to be complete by late May, according to the report.
