Moses-Ludington Hospital to undergo $9.1M renovation

Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, N.Y., is planning a $9.1 million renovation project, reports The Sun.

The project is the cornerstone of a proposed new medical village, which is slated to include various complementary, health‐related services on one main campus, John Remillard, president of Elizabethtown (N.Y.) Community Hospital and MLH told The Sun.

MLH, as part of its renovation project, plans to revamp and modernize the hospital emergency department, according to the article. The project will also include renovations to diagnostic imaging, pharmacy and rehabilitation departments.

Jane Hooper, an ECH spokeswoman, told The Sun the emergency department will be four times larger than it is right now, and a four-bed observation unit will be added.

The renovation project will also include a new radiology suite. Additionally, the hospital laboratory will now be located adjacent to the emergency department, and a new outpatient services clinic will offer space for specialty physicians to meet with patients, according to the report. The outpatient physical therapy space will also be renovated and reconfigured.

Hooper said Moses-Ludington is being assisted by a group of healthcare organizations, including the University of Vermont Health Network in Burlington, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital at Plattsburgh (N.Y.), ECH and Hudson Headwaters Health Network in Queensbury, N.Y.

Other components of the proposed medical village include Heritage Commons Nursing Home, a primary care clinic and senior housing.

Hospital officials expect construction on the planned medical village to begin in February 2017.
