McAlester (Okla.) Regional Health Center broke ground on an $11.8 million emergency center.
Here are five things to know:
1. The 20,000-square-foot facility will also accommodate up to 50,000 patients a year.
2. The center will include a number of features, including four shock trauma rooms as well as a treatment room designed for rape victims requiring examinations.
3. Additionally, the center includes a decontamination room for chemical exposure patients.
4. McAlester Regional Health Center plans to achieve Level II trauma center designation within the next 10 years.
5. The center is slated to open in summer 2018.
