Representatives from Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic on Wednesday presented the clinic's 2017 to 2021 five-year plan to the city's Planning and Zoning Commission, which includes several expansions to its medical campus, according to the Post Bulletin.
Mayo Clinic is required by city ordinances to update plans every five years for its campuses in special zoning districts, according to the report. The five-year plans support the city's infrastructure growth and planning efforts, according to Jeff Ellerbusch, a senior planner with the Rochester-Olmsted Planning Department, the Post Bulletin reported.
Mayo Clinic outlined 60 projects in its plan, including renovations and expansions of current facilities and new construction. More than half of the projects will take place in the central medical sub-district in downtown Rochester, while 21 will occur outside of Mayo Clinic's three sub-districts.
Most notable among the planned projects are a "phase three" vertical expansion of the Gonda Building; a large expansion of its clinical laboratory, research and education facilities south of the Hilton and Guggenheim buildings; and continued renovation of all of buildings on Saint Marys Campus, according to the report.
