Rochester, Min.-based Mayo Clinic is planning a $70.5 million expansion to its Jacksonville, Fla., campus as part of its effort to become a top destination medical center in the Southeast, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal.
The expansion comes in addition to the more than $300 million the hospital has already invested in expanding its Jacksonville campus, according to the report, which is supported by 5,900 employees.
The most recent expansion will add more than 300,000 square feet of space over the next five years, according to the report. About 100 physicians and hundreds of staff positions will be added as well.
An additional four stories will be added to the campus' Mayo Building South, which will house the cardiovascular, cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery program areas; an expanded spine center and pain rehabilitation programs; additional surgical rooms; a molecular imaging center for radiology; and laboratory expansion, according to the report.
