Harrington HealthCare System in Southbridge, Mass., is in negotiations with Connecticut insurers as it looks to grow its out-of-state patient volume, reports Worcester Business Journal Online.
Harrington HealthCare System President and CEO Edward Moore said the system plans to offer outpatient services in Connecticut, such as behavioral health or urgent care services.
Mr. Moore said enhanced patient volumes will help the community hospital system better prepare for risk-based insurance contracts by mitigating relative risk.
HarringtonMemorialHospital, the system's flagship facility in Southbridge, was the most profitable community hospital in the Commonwealth in fiscal year 2015, with a $9.3 million profit.
