The Georgia Department of Community Health on Nov. 15 approved Lee County, Ga.'s certificate of need to build a hospital in the county.
Here are three things to know.
1. The approval gives Lee County permission to construct a 60-bed hospital to increase access to local healthcare services in Southwest Georgia.
2. The hospital will house an intensive care unit and medical/surgical unit, among other features, to offer both acute and emergency care services to community members.
3. Lee County expects to break ground on the hospital in early 2018.
