WestBocaMedicalCenter in Boca Raton, Fla., revealed plans to update its five existing operation rooms and add another OR, increasing the hospital's surgical capacity, reports Sun Sentinel.
Officials plan to add a 3,800-square-foot addition to the pre- and post-op units and digitally integrate each OR.
"Robotic procedures can be only done in large operating rooms due to the equipment" size and space constraints, Zofia Gianelli, director of surgical services, told Sun Sentinel. Hospital officials believe the expansion will help drive surgical business to the facility.
Hospital CFO Brook Thomas expects the project to cost $10 million, according to the article.
