College of Central Florida in Ocala is asking the Marion County Hospital District to help it fund construction of a health science center, according to a Star-Banner report.
Here are four things to know.
1. CF seeks a $6 million funding commitment from the district, according to the report. The college is also looking to garner $23.7 million in funding from the state legislature, according to the report.
2. The proposed project would offer training in nursing, emergency medical services, physical therapy, surgical support services and dental hygiene, the Star-Banner reports.
3. College spokesperson Lois Brauckmuller told the publication the project would allow for 300 associate degree nursing students, compared with the current 225.
4. The hospital district is expected to consider the $6 million commitment on Monday, according to the report.
