Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare broke ground Oct. 4 on its musculoskeletal institute, part of the system's planned $1 billion "health innovation district," according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
The 180,000-square-foot Emory Musculoskeletal Institute will house orthopedic services, spine care, physical therapy and ambulatory surgery. It will also have space for research.
The institute is part of Emory's plan to develop a 60-acre health innovation district, which was announced in May.
Emory plans to use the 60 acres to build a 140-bed hospital, 1.84 million square feet of medical space, 60,000 square feet of commercial space, a 200-room hotel and 718 units of residential properties.
