Victoria, Texas-based DeTar Hospital North is starting a $3.3 million renovation project to focus on the hospital's labor and delivery and women's services units, according to a Victoria Advocate report.
The hospital is completing the project in two phases to allow hospital procedures to continue without interruption, said Gary Malaer, CEO of DeTar Hospital North.
The first phase will place sleeper recliners for guests in the women's services wing. The second phase, which the hospital plans to begin in May, will improve the labor and delivery wing's birthing suites. Improvements include new sleeper couches, rockers and flat-screen TVs.
The renovation will also upgrade equipment and add double doors that can be locked to ensure the unit is secure for patients.
Renovations are anticipated to be finished by November.
