Cleveland Clinic receives planning permission to build facility in London

The Westminster city council granted the Cleveland Clinic planning permission to convert a former office building into the clinic's first advanced healthcare facility in London in the United Kingdom.

The council approved of the clinic's plans to convert the building into a 205-bed hospital as long as the clinic retains the majority of the building's existing structure and external face and reinstates the building's original entrances.

The financial cost of the project has yet to be disclosed.

"I am delighted that we have been granted planning approval and can start the development of our first healthcare facility in London," said Toby Cosgrove, president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic. "Since 1921 we have established a reputation as one of the most trusted and respected providers of healthcare. We are looking forward to the opportunity to provide our unique model of care to patients in London, one of the world's greatest cities."
