Cleveland Clinic Children's will build its first freestanding outpatient facility — a $20 million, 120,000-square-foot children's center, according to Crain's Cleveland Business.
The new outpatient facility, expected to open in fall 2018, will combine children's primary and specialty outpatient care to one location. The children's center will be housed in Cleveland Clinic's former Taussig Cancer Center, which moved to a new $276 million facility in March 2017.
The center will have 50 exam rooms, 20 private infusion rooms and four procedure rooms. In addition, the children's center will include a café, a nutrition center, a family-focused education center, a retail pharmacy and a playroom.
Children requiring complex care or hospitalizations will be directed to Cleveland Clinic Children's main campus.
"This is an exciting new chapter in the history of Cleveland Clinic Children's," Rita Pappas, MD interim chair of Cleveland Clinic Children's, told Crain's Cleveland Business. "This new building will help bring visibility to the Cleveland Clinic Children's brand. More importantly, it will allow hundreds of doctors, nurses, therapists and other caregivers to work side-by-side to enhance the care and experience of every child."
A leading $3 million gift from the Jones Day Foundation will help fund the project.
