A proposed expansion of Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, N.Y., is closer to reality after the Town of Ithaca's planning board on Tuesday approved the final site plan for the project, reports The Ithaca Journal.
Here are five things to know about the project.
1. As part of the project, 6,000 square feet of space will be added to the behavioral health unit on the second floor of the north wing at CMC and 12,350 square feet of space will be renovated on the first floor, according to the report.
2. Construction to the existing first floor will include treatment space, patient rooms and support space, according to the report.
3. CMC also must apply for certification from the New York State Office of Mental Health.
4. The hospital hopes to begin the bidding process for the project early next year.
