Bayonne, N.J.-based CarePoint Health plans to open nine satellite emergency departments throughout New Jersey, according to a report on NJ.com.
Here are three things to know about the health system's plans.
1. CarePoint has applied with the New Jersey Department of Health to open facilities in Jersey City, Union City and North Bergen, according to the article. CarePoint also proposed facilities in Edgewater, Palisades Park, Carlstadt, Lodi and Clifton.
2. CarePoint officials told the state the satellite EDs would offer "improved capacity and access" to emergency care, reduce costs for patients and an economic benefit to communities, according to the report. If approved, CarePoint would partner with Lewisville, Texas-based Adeptus Health, the largest operator of freestanding emergency rooms in the U.S., for the possible expansion.
3. The nine satellite emergency EDs would amount to a $72 million capital investment in northern New Jersey and could create an estimated 100 new jobs, CarePoint officials have said, according to the report.
