Bon Secours Medical Group, part of the Bon Secours Richmond (Va.) Health System, will close the Urbanna (Va.) Medical Center, according to SSentinel.com.
David Budinger, executive director of Bon Secours Medical Group, disclosed the news in a press release.
All current patients will receive a letter notifying them of the closure and offering alternatives for care. Bon Secours will continue to provide care to patients of the Urbanna practice until August 31, according to the report.
Urbanna Medical Center opened as a family practice clinic in January 2014 under Glen Monteiro, MD. In June, Dr. Monteiro resigned to take a position in California. A nurse practitioner has served as the medical center's primary provider since Dr. Monteiro left, according to the report.
All existing Urbanna Medical Center staff will retain jobs with Bon Secours and be transferred to the Hartfield (Va.) Medical Center or Tappahannock (Va.) Primary Care. Patients and community members can continue to receive care through various Bon Secours locations, with Hartfield Medical Center as the primary site of care.
