Bon Secours Community Hospital receives approval for $40M expansion project

Port Jervis, N.Y.-based Bon Secours Community Hospital will begin a $40 million expansion project after receiving approval from the state of New York.

The project calls for expanding the emergency department, renovating the main entrance and upgrading the imaging center at the community hospital.

Hospital officials said the main feature of the project is the development of 43,000 square feet of space into a "medical village," where the hospital will collaborate with community partners to promote wellness and provide health services such as women's health, mental health and pediatrics.

"Hospitals are community anchors that are expected to lead the way when it comes to healthcare innovation," said Mary Leahy, MD, CEO of Bon Secours Charity Health System, the parent of the community hospital. "The Bon Secours Community Hospital project will be a beacon for a healthier Port Jervis. We are thrilled to have received this approval and look forward to collaborations with our community partners."
