St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare gained city council approval to replace Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in Creve Coeur, Mo., with a modern structure more than double the size of the hospital, reports St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
In addition to the proposed 260,000-square-foot, six-story replacement hospital, the plan includes four additional medical office buildings and a parking garage. The project's first phase involves the replacement hospital and one attached medical office, according to the report. Officials said they anticipate starting the first phase in the next couple of weeks.
The replacement hospital will house up to 100 beds and a shelled space that could be expanded sometime in the future pending need.
