Akron (Ohio) Children's Hospital will begin construction in February to expand its Considine Professional Building, reported Crain's Cleveland Business.
Here are six things to know about the expansion project.
- The project will add 230,000 additional square feet to the seven-story facility, which is located across the street from the hospital's main building.
- While the hospital originally estimated the project would cost $100 million, the target budget is now $84 million, according to the report.
- The expansion will consolidate all outpatient services into one building and provide more office space for physicians.
- Akron Children's mental health programs, currently housed several blocks away from campus, will move into the new facility.
- Plans include a bridge to be built from the Considine Professional Building to the main hospital.
- The project is slated for completion in April 2018.
