Acadia proposes hospital for drug treatment in Pennsylvania

Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare proposed building a new Pennsylvania hospital with drug treatment services in Bern Township, according to a Reading Eagle report.

The 120-bed hospital would be built in close proximity to Reading Regional Airport. Acadia representatives indicated the hospital would aim "to stabilize patients, including adults and adolescents challenged by depression, anxiety, substance abuse and various other mental health issues," according to the report.

In addition to the hospital, Acadia's proposal included a future expansion, complete with 24 beds, a 45,000-square-foot medical office building and a 64-bed residential treatment facility, the report states.

Acadia already brought the proposal to Bern Township officials.
