The following hospitals announced plans to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities in the last week.
1. Urgent care center opens at McLaren Macomb-Shelby Creek Medical Center
McLaren Macomb in Mount Clemens, Mich., added Stony Creek Urgent Care to the hospital-owned McLaren Macomb-Shelby Creek Medical Center, based in Shelby Charter Township, Mich.
2. Lee County to build $50M hospital over golf course
Georgia's Lee County is slated to build a $50 million hospital over half of its Grand Island 18-hole golf course, the Albany Herald reported.
3. KU hospital puts forward $10M donation match for new tower
The University of Kansas Hospital raised its $10 million fundraising match in response to philanthropist Annette Bloch's 2014 $10 million donation, Wyandotte Daily Online reported. The combined $20 million will help fund the hospital's proposed $350 million Cambridge North Tower, which is projected to open 2017 with additional floors opening in 2018. The tower will house 92 beds and 12 operating rooms.
4. Connecticut senator urges VA to fix sidewalks outside hospital to improve safety
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., held a press conference outside the Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System's West Haven campus June 10, encouraging the hospital to improve the crosswalks and sidewalks around the facility to keep pedestrians and patients safe, the New Haven Register reports.
5. Illinois hospital to add 21 private patient rooms
Anderson Hospital in Maryville (Ill.) is promoting a $7 million capital campaign to build 21 new private patient rooms out of a space that used to house physician offices, the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
6. UCHealth to build $185M hospital campus
Colorado Springs-based University of Colorado Health unveiled plans to build a new health campus in Greeley, Colo.
