The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.
1. Medical University of South Carolina gets OK to build 128-bed Nexton hospital
Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina received approval from the state health department to build a $325 million hospital in Berkeley County.
2. Pittsburgh hospital's historic $142M expansion powered by 130% outpatient growth
Pittsburgh-based St. Clair Hospital unveiled plans to build a six-story outpatient center after a 130 percent increase in outpatient volumes since 2006, the hospital said July 24.
3. Cincinnati hospital plans $56.6 million expansion: 4 things to know
Cincinnati-based Good Samaritan Western Ridge Ambulatory Campus, part of Cincinnati-based TriHealth, will more than double in size with a $56.6 million expansion.
4. Colorado VA hospital to open $1B over budget after 5-year delay
Although it's five-years behind schedule and $1 billion over budget, the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center finally will open to outpatients July 27 and inpatients Aug. 4.
5. Maryland hospital to shut down, be replaced with freestanding facility
Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System plans to close University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester, a 47-bed hospital in Cambridge, Md., in 2021 and replace it with a freestanding facility 1 mile away.
