Ten healthcare organizations in Michigan are receiving $1 million each in federal grant money to support facility renovation, expansion or construction, according to an mlive.com report.
HHS made the announcement May 4, the same day President Barack Obama visited Flint, Mich., to discuss the city's water crisis. Flint-based Genesee Health System, which works with families impacted by the lead-contaminated water, is among the grant recipients.
The health centers that receive the money will use it to increase their patient capacity and provide additional comprehensive primary and preventative health services to medically underserved populations across the state, HHS' announcement read, according to the report. The awards will allow the healthcare organizations to renovate or acquire new clinical space to help provide care to an estimated 52,956 new patients in Michigan.

- Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center (Gwinn)
- The Wellness Plan (Detroit)
