Powell (Wyo.) Valley Healthcare will transition from its NextGen Healthcare Information Systems EHR to a new Cerner system, the Powell Tribune reported Sept. 14.
Four notes:
1. Powell Valley Healthcare has been using NextGen Healthcare's EHR since 2013.
2. The hospital began reevaluating its EHR system about 18 months ago and chose Cerner after inking an affiliation agreement with Billings (Mont.) Clinic, which uses Cerner software.
3. Powell Valley Healthcare has been testing and evaluating the new EHR over the past year and a half and went live on the new system this past week, according to the Sept. 14 report.
4. The new Cerner EHR will cost Powell Valley Healthcare $357,000 annually, which is slightly more than the $333,000 annual cost of the NextGen system, according to the report.
