Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Health migrated its Epic EHR to the Microsoft cloud.

2. The shift will allow the health system to handle bigger data loads, deploy more artificial intelligence, and better comply with regulatory requirements, according to a Nov. 18 news release.
3. "Migrating our EHR system to Microsoft Azure allows us to leverage cutting-edge technology and services to improve patient outcomes," Franciscan Health CIO Charles Wagner said in a statement. "This transformation enables our teams to be more agile and responsive, ensuring we stay ahead in the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape."
4. Cloud storage company Silk helped Franciscan Health with the transition.
5. Health systems have been transferring their EHRs to the cloud in recent years, with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services being two popular options, while some newer EHRs are cloud-hosted.
