Truckee, Calif.-based Tahoe Forest Health System, with the help of Mercy Technology Services, successfully rolled out its Epic EHR Nov.1.
The two-hospital system, with locations in Nevada and California, consolidated eight EHRs in what Jeff Rosenfeld, the system's manager of strategic innovation and project management, called "hands down the biggest project we've ever undertaken."
TFHS, which offers 24-hour emergency care, a total joint orthopedic program including direct anterior hip replacement surgery, physician multi-specialty clinics and a Commission on Cancer accredited cancer center, partnered with MTS to ensure a smooth installation. MTS provides and manages technology solutions for O'Fallon, Mo.-based Mercy, which became the nation's first healthcare provider to gain Epic accreditation for offering a full suite of EHR solutions to other hospitals.
"Tahoe was meticulous in their preparation, collaboration and doing all that was necessary to get it right," said Gil Hoffman, Mercy's CIO. "They were firing on all cylinders, and that engagement makes a big difference."
