Columbus, N.C.-based St. Luke's Hospital implemented an Epic EHR system Feb. 2, according to BlueRidgeNow.com.
Patients will now be able to access their information online from laboratory, pharmacy and physician offices, among others, through the hospital's patient portal My St. Luke's Chart, which will integrate with the Epic system.
St. Luke's Hospital and its physician network also plan to install a patient access secured system to help match patients to their electronic health data. The system, called PASS, will scan a patient's palm vein pattern and convert it into a digital code for improved security and identity protection, BlueRidgeNow.com reports.
Epic was recently awarded the No. 1 spot on KLAS Research's ranking of overall software suites for the ninth consecutive year.
