Pullman (Wash.) Regional Hospital will invest $10 million in a new Epic EHR system, Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports.
The hospital will spend the next seven years transitioning to the new EHR as part of its proposed $40 million "Next Era of Excellence" project, which focuses on expanding and enhancing healthcare delivery.
By installing the Epic system, Pullman Regional Hospital aims to reduce stress and save time for hospital physicians and staff, who will be able to access medical records in one, single system. Additionally, patients will be able to access their health information when they go to different providers that use Epic, according to the report.
"The chances of you going to a provider in Spokane, [Wash.] or Seattle or even down in Portland, [Ore.] are very good that they'll be able to see your whole personal health record right from there," Pullman Regional Hospital Chief Clinical Officer Jeannie Eyla, RN, told Moscow-Pullman Daily News. "You don't have to take your X-rays and lab work and all that stuff because they can just log right on to their own system."
