ONC has formed a pharmacy IT task force that includes executives from health systems and EHR executives.
The group will work to improve electronic data exchange, identify ways to support emerging therapies such as digital therapeutics, gene therapies and specialty medications, and figure out how to boost direct-to-consumer pharmacy services.
The task force, which was unveiled June 15, includes:
— Hans Buitendijk, director of interoperability strategy at Oracle Health.
— Jim Jirjis, MD, chief health information officer for HCA Healthcare (Nashville, Tenn.)
— Eliel Oliveira, director of research and innovation at Dell Medical School at University of Texas at Austin.
— Sheryl Turney, technology director with Elevance Health (formerly Anthem).
— Afton Wagner, senior manager of pharmacy policy and technical standards at Walgreens.
Dr. Jirjis was appointed by Congress, while Mr. Buitendijk, Mr. Oliveira and Ms. Turney were selected by the Government Accountability Office.
