For hospitals that did not achieve meaningful use and did not receive a hardship exception in the Medicare Electronic EHR Incentive Program for the 2016 reporting period, the deadline to apply for reconsideration of the 2018 payment adjustment is Nov. 30.
The program asks hospitals participating in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program to demonstrate meaningful use each year to avoid a payment adjustment.
However, organizations could apply for a hardship exception. The deadline for Eligible Professionals and Eligible Hospitals to do so was July 1.
"If an EP, eligible hospital or [critical access hospital] receives notification that they are subject to a Medicare EHR payment adjustment in error, based on the applicable performance year, they can apply for a reconsideration during the applicable application period," reads the CMS website.
