New York HIE regulators issue info request for medical records aggregation software

The New York EHealth Collaborative, which works with the state's health department to oversee health information exchange integration, published a request for information for vendors that can provide patient-facing software to aggregate medical records and support patient-provider messaging.

NYeC is a nonprofit organization that partners with the New York State Department of Health to develop policies and procedures that regulate how electronic health information in the state is shared via the Statewide Health Information Network for New York.

The Sept. 25 RFI is centered around patient access to health data. NYeC is looking for a vendor with the following criteria: have an application that can currently access patient medical records, with their consent, from different healthcare provider sources, can support bidirectional messaging, and adheres to HITECH, HIPAA and security rules, among other requirements.

The deadline for submissions to the RFI is Oct. 23.
