New Mercy hospital to switch to Epic

A Kansas hospital recently acquired by St. Louis-based Mercy plans to switch to Epic for its EHR, according to the Catholic Diocese of Wichita (Kan.).

The health system agreed to purchase Pittsburg, Kan.-based Ascension Via Christi Hospital in February. As part of the deal, the hospital will move to Mercy's Epic EHR. The facility now uses Meditech for its inpatient medical records and Athenahealth for outpatient.

"There will be, during that period of time, a contract set up for transition services where Ascension is still going to be providing some services for us while we're on some of these old systems," hospital President Drew Talbott said in the July 30 diocese article.

The Epic conversion is scheduled to be completed in July 2025.
