Utica, N.Y.-based Mohawk Valley Health System deployed an Epic EHR June 29, NBC and CBS affiliate WKTV reports.
MVHS is an affiliation of Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center, both in Utica. The three hospitals are now on the same records system, which will help streamline patient health information and improve accessibility when individuals are transferred between the facilities.
"We don't even really have to send any records with [the patient]. [The admitting hospital] actually will be able to sign in, access our system, look at our [CT] scans so they don't have to be reprinted or redone or put on a disc," MVHS Chief Medical Operations Officer Paul Davidson, MD, told WKTV. "They'll have all that information right there for them when the patient gets there. That is probably the greatest part of the system."
An Epic team is stationed at the hospital for the next three weeks to help troubleshoot any issues with the new system and provide technical support.
