Meditech teamed up with artificial intelligence developer Nuance to launch a voice assistant for clinicians using its Expanse EHR system, according to a Sept. 9 news release.
Built on Nuance's Dragon Medical conversational AI assistant, the Meditech Expanse Virtual Assistant will allow clinicians to navigate the web-based EHR system by voice.
Using voice commands, clinicians can instruct the digital assistant to search patient charts for information including lab results, medications, allergies and radiology images.
"In partnership with Nuance, virtual assistant technology represents another leap forward in usability and efficiency, ushering in a new era of digital transformation," Meditech Executive Vice President Helen Waters said in the news release. "Physicians can simply ask for what they need from their Expanse EHR and get it."
