Meditech develops workflow tools for coronavirus screenings

Meditech released documentation tools within its EHR software to help clients screen, detect and manage patients who have potentially been infected with coronavirus, according to a Feb. 7 news release.

The screening tools are based on current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and are applied to all Meditech software, regardless of patient arrival setting.

The documentation provides clinical decision support, including guidance on how to build and implement a series of queries, connect queries to questionnaires and create logic that can be used to alert and notify staff.

EHR vendors Epic and Athenahealth have also recently launched coronavirus screening tools within their EHR software. There have been 12 confirmed U.S. cases of coronavirus as of Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. CST and more than 40,000 confirmed cases globally, according to Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University. The respiratory infection originated in Wuhan, China.
