Intermountain Healthcare and Cerner expand partnership: 4 things to know

Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare announced Feb. 18 a multiyear extension of its Cerner agreement.

Four things to know:

1. Intermountain uses Cerner software for clinical and financial management to improve patient safety, care quality and control costs.

2. Under the expanded partnership, Cerner and Intermountain aim to enhance innovation efforts geared toward population health.

"We have the incredible opportunity — and ultimately the responsibility — to improve the lives of caregivers and patients in the communities we serve and be a model of care delivery for health systems around the world, of which Cerner is instrumental in achieving," Intermountain CIO Marc Probst said in a news release.

3. As part of the Cerner Government Advisory Board, the EHR vendor will leverage Probst's experience in providing care to veterans and active service members to help support and develop technology solutions for federal agencies.

4. Intermountain has implemented Cerner technology across its 24 hospitals and 210 clinics.
