Indiana links PDMP to EHRs in statewide Appriss Health license

Appriss Health and the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, which manages the state's prescription drug monitoring program, have teamed up to integrate the state's controlled prescription information into an EHRs and pharmacy management systems across the state.

Indiana is the seventh state to implement a statewide, enterprise license for Appriss Health's PMP Gateway, a managed service platform that provides prescribers and pharmacists with access to data from PDMPs within their clinical workflows.

PMP Gateway will integrate information from the Indiana Scheduled Prescription Electronic Collection and Tracking program — the state's PDMP — so healthcare providers won't have to log on to two separate platforms. It also provides clinical decision support and patient engagement services within EHR and pharmacy management systems.

The system will be implemented in health systems throughout the state, which Gov. Eric J. Holcomb, R, said is a key component in fighting Indiana's opioid crisis.

"INSPECT helps healthcare professionals around the state limit the number of controlled-substance prescriptions that contribute to our state's devastating drug crisis," Mr. Holcomb said. "I commend Indiana's Professional Licensing Agency, Board of Pharmacy and Appriss Health for their hard work and partnership to make a statewide platform for INSPECT possible."
