Midwestern University, a medical school based in Downers Grove, Ill., that offers care through its clinics, selected Epic as its EHR.
The installation will bring the EHRs used by Midwestern's dental services, eye services, multispeciality clinics and therapy services into a single unified system. Patients will now have the ability to complete paperwork prior to an appointment and enroll in MyChart, according to a Nov. 6 Midwestern University news release.
The Epic system will also be used at Midwestern's Glendale, Ariz.-based campus.
"Over 250 million patients have an electronic record in Epic, and Epic is used in most of the top hospitals, clinics, and university medical systems in the U.S.," Midwestern University President and CEO Kathleen Goeppinger,PhD, said in the news release. "Those faculty, staff, and students in our clinics will have the opportunity to learn the new software, experience the benefits of an integrated system and, most importantly, help us improve our patient experience."
