The plurality of physicians — 34 percent — agree the No. 1 problem with EHR systems across the marketplace is lack of user-friendliness, according to a Medical Economics survey.
For the survey, Medical Economics asked 3,200 physicians about their attitudes toward EHRs and EHR vendors. Other top problems respondents cited included lack of interoperability (25 percent) and cost (15 percent).
Here's how physicians ranked five ways EHR vendors might improve their products.
1. Work more closely with their customers when designing systems: 62 percent
2. Make systems more user-friendly: 62 percent
3. Take an active role in promoting interoperability: 50 percent
4. Put people before profits: 35 percent
5. Stop information blocking: 16 percent
