A Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society subsidiary recognized Wilmington, Del.-based Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children for its EMR initiatives.
HIMSS Analytics re-validated Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children on Stage 7 of the eight-stage HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model, which measures the degree to which a hospital or health system uses its EMR functions. Five percent of U.S. hospitals have reached Stage 7, which represents the highest designation.
One of the hospital's health IT initiatives enabled paramedics at the Nemours Clinical Logistics Center to remotely monitor patients and access each patient's EMR to better inform decision making.
"Taking care of children is a special responsibility," said James Gaston, senior director of healthcare advisory services group at HIMSS Analytics. "Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is taking that responsibility seriously as demonstrated by their exceptional use of healthcare information technology."
