Fort Madison Community Hospital invests $2M in integrating EHRs

Fort Madison (Iowa) Community Hospital has spent $2 million to implement an integrated EHR system.

Previously, the hospital had been using a Greenway Health EHR for clinic services and a Meditech EHR for hospital services. Now, the two systems have been integrated into one EHR using Meditech software. The integration began in early 2017 and went live July 1. The conversion also included an update to the previous Meditech system.

Patients will have access to the MyHealth Patient Portal, where they can view their health information, test results as well as contact their care team and manage their appointments.

"Patients will now have one record that includes both their clinic visits with our FMCH providers and any services provided on the hospital side which includes emergency room visits, radiology tests, laboratory tests and inpatient stays," said Shane Tapper, CIO of Fort Madison Community Hospital.
