Epic in the headlines: 7 recent moves

From integrating patient experience data into MyChart to inking a new partnership with Northwell Health, here are seven updates on Epic's operations, software products and partnerships reported by Becker's Hospital Review in March.

  1. Epic said it will use Microsoft's GPT-4 technology to help physicians spend less time on their keyboards.

  2. Epic is partnering with medical genetics company Invitae to make genetic test results available through Aura, Epic's specialty diagnostics suite.

  3. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health said it would be moving from its Allscripts EHR system to Epic. 

  4. Stirling Martin, senior vice president and chief privacy and security officer at Epic testified before Congress on how the federal government can better support healthcare cybersecurity.

  5. Epic said it will add 1,700 jobs as it looks to expand its workforce by 10 percent in 2023.

  6. Epic asked HHS to extend the public comment period for a new rule to streamline the electronic transmission of prior authorizations.

  7. Epic partnered with consumer experience company Press Ganey to integrate patient experience data into MyChart.
