DrChrono, an EHR, medical billing and practice management software developer, added a new feature that uses voice recognition technology to chart physicians' clinical notes in the EHR.
The charting tool is available on DrChrono's iPad EHR app. Clinicians can use voice commands such as "next field," and "next paragraph," to switch fields and insert line breaks instead of manually tapping the screen. A glossary with all possible voice commands will appear within the app if the clinician says, "What can I say."
"Chart by Voice is beneficial especially to the field of psychiatry allowing the physician to talk directly into our iPad EHR app to chart as an alternative to having to type in the information, providing a more hands-off device experience," DrChrono Co-founder and COO Daniel Kivatinos said in a news release.
