Springfield, Mo.-based CoxHealth has begun the pre-planning activities for its Epic EHR install, which is slated to be completed by early 2026.
On Dec. 19, CoxHealth said it would be moving from an Oracle Health EHR system to Epic. The EHR install comes as CoxHealth is in a "technology growth journey," Patrick Murfee, vice president and chief technology officer of the organization, told Becker's.
"Right now we are focused on pre-planning activities and we have Epic closely aligned with us to make sure that our governance processes, staffing processes, third party and scoping processes are all mature and ready," he said.
The EHR install also means CoxHealth is growing its IT team headcount and is focusing on pulling teams back in-house to create one structure with stronger synergies.
"For the past 18 months we've been focused on pulling the teams back because of our larger roadmap and where we're investing," he said. "We want all of those teams to be homogenous and together across the organization. Not just the application teams, but the support teams and the infrastructure and technology teams as well."
