Columbia U, NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell deploy joint Epic EHR

Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medicine, all in New York City, on Feb. 1 went live on a new Epic EHR system.

In 2017, the organizations signed a joint contract to implement an Epic EHR across their institutions. By transitioning to the same EHR platform, CUIMC, NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine can access and exchange patient medical records.

As part of the EHR implementation, a training team led more than 4,000 classes over the last 12 weeks to teach more than 19,000 users how to navigate the new system, according to a Feb. 1 LinkedIn post from Jonathan Mason, the director of Epic enterprise learning at Columbia University.

Provider Epic support centers will be available to new EHR users through Feb. 28 to help with the transition and resolve standard workflow and application issues.
