CHS patients can access EHR on iPhone

Many of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health System's affiliated hospitals are using Apple's Health Records feature, giving patients access to their records through their iPhone.

Around 100 CHS-affiliated hospitals are participating to allow patients to more easily aggregate medical data. Patients who have iPhones can receive and store details from their medical records, including allergies, conditions, immunizations, labs, medications, procedures and vitals.

"At CHS, we are rapidly expanding our digital health and consumer engagement strategies to provide patients with more convenience, more information and more control over their healthcare experience," Lynn Simon, MD, president of clinical operations and CMO at CHS, said in a release. "By giving our patients an easy way to receive and track their medical information, we believe we also are giving them one more way to be active participants in managing their health, which can lead to better outcomes."

Patients medical records at CHS were previously stored in multiple locations, requiring patients to log into each care provider's website and patient portal.
