Cerner will transfer an estimated 360 jobs in information technology and revenue management services from its Kansas City-based headquarters back to Adventist Health, according to Kansas City Business Journal.
In January 2018, Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health sent 275 jobs to Cerner as part of its expanded partnership with the EHR vendor. As part of the deal, Cerner assumed day-to-day management of Adventist's revenue cycle and clinical applications IT staff.
"Cerner and Adventist Health have a longstanding relationship with a shared goal of improving care quality and patient experience," a Cerner spokesperson said in an emailed statement to Becker's. "As part of a joint strategic business decision between the two parties, revenue cycle operations are transitioning from Cerner RevWorks to Adventist Health."
Cerner informed its employees working with Adventist on Oct. 2 that they would transition back to the health system as it retakes control of its revenue cycle management services, the publication reports. The jobs swap is expected to happen Nov. 4 with employees stationed at Cerner's Kansas City, Mo.-based campus.
All Cerner RevWorks associates working with Adventist Health will be offered employment, the spokesperson told Becker's. Adventist has extended employment opportunities to all Cerner staff impacted by the swap in the Kansas City-area, according to the publication.
Adventist will transition its revenue cycle operations in California to Huron Consulting Group beginning Nov. 4. The health system will extend job offers to around 1,500 Cerner associates and Huron plans to offer an estimated 100 positions, an Adventist spokesperson told the publication.
Adventist operates 19 medical centers and more than 280 clinics in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. Cerner will still serve as the nonprofit health system's EHR and revenue cycle software provider.
