Allscripts on March 4 announced its new specialty medication management software through its payer and life sciences business Veradigm.
The software, dubbed AccelRx, is designed to be user friendly and help providers spend less time on phone calls and managing faxes to meet the requirements for dispensing specialty medications.
Veradigm's AccelRx aims to streamline specialty medication fulfillment and reduce patient wait times by automating the series of reviews required to fill a specialty prescription. For a specialty medication prescription to be filled, it must be approved by various healthcare stakeholders, including payers and specialty pharmacies.
"By delivering a solution that can automate and simplify the complex series of reviews required to fill a specialty prescription, we believe we can help a broad group of healthcare providers to reduce the time it takes to get these medications to patients," said Tom Langan, CEO of Veradigm, according to the news release.
