Albany (N.Y.) Med health System unified its enterprise under the Epic EHR Nov. 2, according to the Daily Gazette.
Albany Medical Center went live with the EHR in March, and now the platform is integrated with Columbia Memorial Health, Glens Falls Hospital, Saratoga Hospital and all outpatient locations, according to the report. The installation was a two-year process and now all patients have access to the MyChart patient portal.
"Unifying this platform at each of our locations elevates and enhances the way we deliver care at the Capital Region's largest health system," Dennis McKenna, MD, president and CEO of Albany Med Health System told the Daily Gazette. "Patients will have a more seamless experience visiting our specialists or receiving emergency care. Our incredible team of experts can easily collaborate and share information to get the whole picture of a patient's journey within the system."
Albany Med has 1,520 hospital beds, 800 physicians and 125 outpatient locations. Patients will have the chance to schedule visits, pay bills and more through the system.
Epic is the market leader for acute care hospitals and has continued to add health system customers this year. The company is also a leader in interoperability and went live Nov. 4 with application programming interfaces allowing app developers to integrate with Epic while also complying with government interoperability standards.
