Meditech is looking to improve its Expanse EHR platform with the addition of conversational and generative AI.
This announcement came during the company's annual leadership conference, Meditech Live, which kicked off on Sept. 25.
Helen Waters, executive vice president and COO of Meditech, emphasized the importance of alleviating clinicians' burdens so they can prioritize patient relationships.
"As an industry, it is imperative that we unburden clinicians so they can focus on what matters most — the relationships with their patients," she said.
Ms. Waters highlighted Meditech's commitment to transforming the clinician experience by addressing current challenges through personalization, mobility, and the infusion of ambient listening and AI technologies to reduce documentation burdens.
Operational efficiency was another central theme of the conference, with Ms. Waters outlining plans to leverage machine learning to optimize capacity and automate processes within Meditech's revenue cycle solutions. According to a Sept. 26 news release, this includes collaborating with the HL7 Da Vinci Project Burden Reduction initiative to streamline prior authorizations and improve communication between providers, patients and payers.
Additionally, the conference featured insights from Mike Cordeiro, senior director of interoperability and market and product strategy at Meditech, who discussed the new Traverse Exchange U.S. interoperability network.
Mr. Cordeiro announced a company-wide initiative aimed at enabling all eligible Expanse customers to go live by 2025. Traverse Exchange is designed to extend beyond traditional data sets, allowing for structured data sharing through HL7 FHIR, according to the release.
